How is biodegradable wooden cutlery made?
Our wooden cutlery is made from Birch wood, a fast-growing tree found in many cold countries. We source our cutlery mainly from the Northern provinces of China and Russia where Birch trees naturally grow in plenty.
The process of manufacturing wooden cutlery is simple and does not involve any chemicals or harmful substances.
The wood is first cut into small logs and soaked in boiling water. The softened wood is made into veneers 2 to 3mm thick. The veneers are cut into desired shapes for making spoons, forks and knives. The spoons and forks are heat pressed using moulds to give them depth.
The finished product is dried and polished for a smooth rounded, splinter-free finish.

Birch wood is a hard wood that is often used for making furniture. The cutlery made from this wood is strong and durable. The fine grains, pale colour and satiny sheen gives a beautiful appearance to the cutlery.
Our disposable spoons are deep and suitable for both solid and liquid foods. The disposable forks have long sturdy prongs making it easy to pierce through hard food items. The disposable knives have angled ridges that can easily cut through meat.
The wooden cutlery can be used for both hot and cold foods. Unlike plastic cutlery, it does not react with hot food nor does it have an unpleasant smell or taste. The edges of forks and spoons are smooth and free of splinters.
Though widely used as disposables, when used with dry foods the spoons and forks can be wiped clean and reused.
