Eco friendly tasting spoons

Whether you’ve worked in a restaurant, takeaway venue, office kitchen, military canteen, or simply rustle up meals at home, tasting is likely to be a big part of getting those meals just right. In the old days, especially in a pre-Covid world, many professional chefs would have used their serving or mixing spoon to taste with, before then offering it to the sous chef as well.

Hygiene standards may have improved since then, but unfortunately, this brought with it a shift to using plastic spoons to taste with. Cheap and easy to dispose of, they seem like the perfect solution. But with plastic spoons gradually being outlawed, our eco-friendly tasting spoons now provide the perfect alternative.

Smooth and kind on the mouth, resistant to high and low temperatures, you can use our spoons for all sorts of tasting. They’re also robust – perfect for those tougher tasting jobs like ice cream, but also resilient in hot liquids. They’re 100% eco-friendly, can be washed and reused, and are fully compostable – you can throw them away with your kitchen food waste if you want, which also saves on washing up!

Home chefs

Many of us rekindled our love for home-cooking during lockdown, whether through necessity or just because we’ve had more time on our hands. With children and parents at home, cooking and tasting is a great way to come together, learn and have fun.

Our spoons are really convenient if you have more than one thing to taste and prepare! After all you don’t want to use the same spoon for your gravy and your custard! In fact, for those that are home schooling, our eco-friendly spoons can be used for lots of tasting projects and experiments and then thrown on the compost – with a quick lesson on why it’s important to use eco-friendly products at the same time!

Happily, there will come a time again soon when we can meet with friends and extended family for a meal once more. And when you’ve got friends in your kitchen, our eco-friendly tasting spoons mean you can let them tuck in and taste away without worrying about spreading germs. And again, you won’t be left with mountains of washing up to do either.

Party time

Like many of you, we love the idea of sharing platters, whether it’s tapas, or dips and sauces, or melted camembert cheese piping hot from the oven! It’s a great way to get together with friends without the hassle of having to cook a large, formal meal and means you can prepare lots of your dishes in advance. There’s also something really fun about everyone tasting and sharing dishes.

But the one thing you don’t want to be doing when you’re sharing your food is sharing spoons too, especially with a double dipper! Once again, our tasting spoons provide the answer. Affordable, attractive to look at and natural, they’re perfect for sauces, shared dishes and dipping. You can each have your own, and could even each have your own spoon for separate dishes, so you don’t have to submerge the same spoon in different pots or bowls.

Taste the difference

You’ve heard of wine tasting but why stop at wine? Tasting parties can be great for all sorts of things. Perhaps you run your own small business and are taste testing a new range or products. Or perhaps you just want to bring friends together for some taste-testing fun? Ask them to bring their home-made chilli sauce or chutney, or whatever you want, and then get people to test the selection and choose a winner!

Our eco-credibility!

Our beautiful wooden tasting spoons are 100% natural and organic. They’re made from birch wood, which is fast-growing, renewable and sustainable. We don’t use any chemicals or harmful substances in our production processes, and our spoons are both tough and smooth. We’ve made sure that they’re fully biodegradable and compostable and our packaging is also free of plastic and can be recycled or composted.

At FOOGO Green, we’re all about making small changes for a better and more sustainable future and switching to our eco-friendly tasting spoons is just one way that you can help make a difference!
